The Washington Post 8 Jan 2013: The (US) administration could intervene in a limited way to protect civilians without asserting a legal basis, as the Clinton administration did with its participation in the 1999 NATO bombing campaign of Kosovo, to protect Kosovars from atrocities committed by Serbia (Right/Responsibility to Protect“.

Jabhat al-Nusra (Nusra Front) Syria 2Infowars 10 Dec. 2012: After first denying the presence of Al-Qaeda militants in Syria, the mainstream media now admits that they are the primary front line fighters in all the major battles. In a report yesterday, the New York Times concedes that the (Jabhat al) Nusra Front, “a direct offshoot of Al Qaeda in Iraq,” “has become one of the uprising’s most effective fighting forces”

DEBKAfile 6 March 2013:  For the first time in many years, voices in the US administration were criticizing the Israeli defense forces for under-reacting and, in this case, also underestimating the chemical weapons threat emanating from Syria and neglecting to pursue counter-measures. This is what visiting Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak heard when he met US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel (Bilderberger) at the Pentagon Tuesday, March 5.
Debkafile’s military and Washington sources disclose that Barak was berated for “inadequate and cursory” military preparations which failed to take into account that a chemical attack on Israel would make it necessary for the Israeli Defence Forces  to enter Syria – most likely coordinated  with the Turkish and Jordanian armies.

Present at the meeting between Hagel and Barak were also Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the US Chiefs of Staff and Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren.
From the defense secretary, Barak heard intelligence estimates confirmed for the first time by an American official that Hizballah has been able to procure a quantity of chemical weapons from Syria – a development which Israel’s leaders have vowed to prevent.

Vitaly-churkinThe proliferation of chemical weapons to HIzballah and other armed bands on Israel’s borders was apparently in the mind of Russia’s UN ambassador Vitaly Churkin, UN Security Council president for March (right), when he cautioned Monday that trouble was building up between Israel and Syria.

DEBKAfile 8 March: - A new US-led contingency headquarters for joint US, IsraelU, Jordanian and Turkish operations will go into action inside Syria if any or all these allies should come under chemical or biological attackWashington expected the Syrian rebels close to al Qaeda to initiate this type of warfare. Such an exchange could quickly spill over the Syrian borders to its neighbors, it was likewise predicted. The abduction of 21 UNDOP Filipino UN observers (as shields) Wednesday, March 6, by the Islamist Martyrs of the Yarmouk, is now seen as tying in closely with the next plans of the Islamist militias of the Syrian rebel force, headed by Jabhat al-Nusra.However, the UNDOF blue helmets  were released on  9 March.  By strengthening their holdings in eastern Syria, the Islamist militias believe they would pave the way for the creation of an al Qaeda-dominated territorial entity, the first of its kind, ranging from the eastern outskirts of Damascus to the northern approaches to Baghdad.

Jabhat al Nusra, al Qaeda’s most effective combat force in Syria and Iraq, is determined to go through with this plan, even if it necessitates fighting with the chemical or biological weapons they have managed to get hold of.

Syria-rebel-weapon_2504727bThe Daily Telegraph 8 March 2013:  Decisions by William Hague, the UK Foreign Secretary, to provide non-lethal assistance and training, announced in the past week, were preceded by much greater though less direct Western involvement in the rebel cause, according to a Croat newspaper. It claimed 3,000 tons of weapons dating back to the former Yugoslavia have been sent in 75 planeloads from Zagreb airport to the rebels, largely via Jordan since November.

Mr Higgins has recently posted videos showing some of the Croat weapons in the hands of the jihadist group Ahrar al-Sham - a twin of Jabhat al Nusra. Although regarded as hostile to the West, it fights closely with other Free Syrian Army units regarded as acceptable recipients of weapons.

The Guardian 8 March 2013: Western training of Syrian rebels is under way in Jordan in an effort to strengthen secular elements in the opposition as a bulwark against Islamic extremism, and to begin building security forces to maintain order in the event of Bashar al-Assad’s fall. Jordanian security sources say the training effort is led by the US, but involves British and French instructors. According to European and Jordanian sources the western training in Jordan has been going on since last year and is focused on senior Syrian army officers who defected. The aim of sending western-trained rebels over the border would be to create a safe area for refugees on the Syrian side of the border, to prevent chaos and to provide a counterweight to al-Qaida-linked extremists who have become a powerful force in the north.

Kommentar: That is not true. The US works closely with CIA-created  al Qaeda in Libya and Syria and here - and uses this figment of imagination  as a pretext for the War on Terror - by Congress called WWIII.
